Juxtaposed...yet again!

I AM SAM (from the Hollywood stable)
The only movie of commensurate quality India ever produced was Rabindranath Tagore's KABULIWALA, directed by Satyajit Ray.
Personal Note:This was one of the last movies (I AM SAM) Dad & I had watched together. We thoroughly savoured it.

Bollywood has always been a non-entity in originality, but does it really have to be such a lousy copycat? Even watching this movie is an insult to the subtleties of the human emotion. Great minds are a rarity, but they are rarer still in India.
Personal Note: Dad didn't live to suffer the torture this movie would have inflicted on him. Anyway, he never watched Bollywood flicks.

I have not seen it yet. I am definitely going to get it now from the blockbusters and watch it now...I am talking about "I am Sam":D

Watching hindi cinema, I am continuously reminded of a line from Jagjit Singh's ghazals which went "Aawazon ke bazaron mein, khamoshi pehchane kaun?"

Hindi cinema, for most of the time, is loud and vulgar. They still haven't mastered the art of subdued emotions and silent spaces. However, it is reassuring that there is now an occassional 'relief movie' every few months.

The year that was

I'm wearing a rather striking shirt, one that makes me feel like a clown fooling around in a graveyard. Roving eyes latch on to me and make me too conscious of myself. Checkered in red, grey, black and maroon, I've excused myself into donning it and looking silly for two reasons. It's Friday and…more importantly, the last working day of the year. Tailored half-a-year back, I never had the courage to wear it, not until today. It's that time of the year when it's time to reflect on the events that transpired. Last year ended on the worst possible note. Dad had expired and I was numb with shock. The repercussions rippled halfway thought this year. Things were so abysmal initially that I had lost the will to live. Acrid in everything I did, I was immensely angered by time phlegmatically flowing through its cadence.
