Deepanjan Nag's Magnum Opus

I remember how utterly excited I was when I Microsoft launched Windows Live Writer, a blog publishing client, several years ago as part of Windows Essentials, a suite of utility applications. No application came anywhere close to emulating its efficiency. In fact, it still remains unbeaten. Microsoft, unfortunately, seems to have abandoned the platform. There has been no update for several years and there have been rumours that the product will be thrown open to the open source community after Microsoft officially abandons the product. Nothing of this sort has happened. Maybe it's time to use Blogger's native web client or use the Android app (as I'm doing currently). Blogging still remains a fascinating indulgence. I wish I could regain my former momentum in posting regular updates.

A little more of Blogger and less of Facebook.

My new laptop is at Badri's place, across the Atlantic. Can't wait to lay my hands on this beauty.

It’s the month of April. Daylight gradually dwarfs darkness. The warmth begins to show.

It would have been tragic had I missed a post for the month of March – the month that bode me life-altering changes. This is a very happy month for me.

Got up and checked my Inbox. Made me very happy and relieved.

I would rather build a philosophy of reasons to try and succeed than a philosophy of excuses to not even try.

2014 is about to come to an end. The hopes are high from 2015.

It’s been 10 years of loneliness without you, Dad. You were, are and will always be my everything.

I think it was one of my cousins who euphemistically called the toilet, a temple. It wasn’t supposed to be offensive to the holy institution; just a hilarious way to allude to the place we all needed to visit daily for obvious reasons. The redefinition caught on with me and I gladly propagated it among my folks. In retrospect, it wasn’t entirely out of place. The new ‘temple’ was where I would go to relieve myself of waste, more physical than mental. It was also a place for a spiritual experience, not necessarily of the divine kind though. The ‘spiritual’ high I attained was on account of the many books I loved re-reading in complete privacy. With no one around, the tranquility was unbeatable. As long as I didn’t linger too long, I could read uninterrupted. By the time I emerged, I had won battles, flown to space, dived underwater and romanced an imaginary sweetheart. I’ve travelled in space and time since them. My physical books have made way for digital blips that need to be downlo...

So my Nexus 7 2013 finally updated to Lollipop! I have read a lot of horror stories of Lollipop ruining the Nexus. I just hope my update works fine.

Nothing like waking up to Ellington in the morning.

Asha has created a new blog... yet again! I hope the fit of enthusiasm lasts longer this time.

Will Windows Live Writer be abandoned for good? I hope Microsoft at least open-sources it.

The pizza flopped.

My Nexus 7 battery was draining at an alarming rate all of a sudden. It would drain 50% overnight even when I wasn’t using it. I’ve still not ascertained the culprit but I guess an app that forcefully stopped background-apps when the monitor switched-off was the reason behind the anomaly. I’ve uninstalled many applications just to be on the safer. Apps have the bad habit of running as background services in Android (not specific to Android though; is by design). I’m happy that the alarming running-out-of-juice has been finally fixed.
